Dr. Christopher Macaluso

Overview

  • The Office of Curriculum and Instruction aligns the work of central office departments to provide seamless support to district schools.  Using the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework to design curriculum that includes researched based instructional materials such as Fountas and Pinnell, The Writing Revolution (TWR), iReady Mathematics, Science 21 and a locally developed integrated ELA/social studies program the office ensures students have equitable access to state standards.

A professional learning community (PLC) model is used to provide faculty with a sustained approach to analyzing the teaching and learning cycle.  Our Technology Department supports the work of PLCs by warehousing longitudinal student achievement results in a data dashboard.  In addition, the PLC process vertically aligns supports for our students as they transition from one educational setting to the next.

Our Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Department along with the Health and Physical Education Department lead district initiatives focused on embedding social and emotional learning (SEL) into the fabric of all instruction.

Naturally, all of this begins with our Early Childhood Program (ECP) which also enriches instruction in the arts for grades PK-12.

We invite you to learn more about our programs and how they develop a well-rounded GCSD Falcon.
