Dear Students,

!Hola! Bienvenido a la clase de español in Woodlands Middle School!

Second language acquisition provides the vision and skills necessary to be a global citizen. I believe that all students can learn and experience success in foreign language. At Woodlands Middle School, we, the teachers, aim to provide students with a solid foundation upon which they can build in the future.

Foreign language education teaches students to understand, read, write and speak another language. It expands the understanding of different cultures and customs and it teaches students to respect the values and ways of life of other people. Foreign language instruction can help students understand and master their own native language by improving vocabulary, developing writing skills and stimulating memorization and daily problem solving skills.

My goal in this Spanish class is to teach you, the student, to communicate in Spanish as well as to appreciate the Spanish culture through conversation, books, worksheets, music, games, videos, and sharing of experiences. I hope to provide the foundation for life long language learning and personal enjoyment and enrichment.

I am looking forward to a productive and exciting year. Please read over the outline/syllabus with your parents/guardians and complete the Parent/Guardian Contact Information form attached to this letter.
