Mr. Nichols
I am so excited to begin my 6th year here at Woodlands as a math and special education teacher. This year I am teaching Geometry, College Algebra, Consumer Math, Math 8, and ELA 8. I understand that math is a subject that intimidates many students. I love to take concepts that seem complicated and break them down so that students can understand them. I teach students strategies and patterns that can help assuage their fears related to numbers. My students will learn that the process of learning can be not only fun, but also relevant and meaningful to their everyday lives.
I am the advisor of the Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) club which provides a safe place for students to meet, support each other, and talk about issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity and expression.
I grew up in Maryland (Go Orioles!), studied American studies and film at Carleton College in Minnesota (Go Twins!) before getting my Master's degree in Math and Special Education, and while I have lived in New York for 17 years, I will never, ever be a Yankees fan.
