Volunteers Needed for Upcoming NYSSB Panel Presentations

Dear GCSD Community,

The New York State Seal of Biliteracy* (NYSSB) recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in English and one or more World Languages.

For 2024, the Greenburgh Central School District is offering our Seniors the opportunity to earn the NYSSB. We have over 30 students challenging the NYSSB in multiple languages!

However, we need your help! Our scholars will need to be evaluated on their panel presentations/culminating projects. Students are required to be able to speak conversationally about a chosen topic with other fluent speakers.

On March 19, 2024 (8 a.m. – 12 p.m.), our scholars will present these final projects in a setting similar to a science fair.

If you are confidently conversationally fluent in any of the listed languages and would like to assist with interviewing students and rating their performance, please fill out the form at www.tinyurl.com/nyssbvolunteers2024

Mandarin
Guyanese Creole
Urdu
Spanish
French
Haitian Creole
Japanese
Punjabi
German

Volunteers will receive support/training on conducting the interviews/evaluations and completing the required rubric**.

Please contact Catherine Addor at caddor@greenburghcsd.org if you require additional information or have questions.

We will be recruiting volunteers through February 9, 2024. Thank you for your consideration.
