“Get on your feet, get on your feet everyone! I present to you the Class of 2025!” commanded WMHS Lead Guidance Counselor, Dr. Foy II, to a crowd of administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and Woodlands High School students as the Falcon Flock of 2025 marched into the Woodlands Gymnasium for the annual college signing ceremony.
It’s been a long-held tradition for Woodlands seniors to be celebrated for their accomplishments and feel supported by the school community as they share and solidify their commitment to the next stage of their educational journey.
In groups of 18, the microphone gets passed along to each student so they can say, with pride, their chosen college and major. There are too many to name them all, but suffice it to say the list of colleges and the variety of fields of studies that will be pursued were impressive- to say the least. As a small taste, some of the colleges that will be lucky to have these Greenburgh students include Harvard, Cornell, UNC Chapel Hill, Cooper Union, Rochester Institute of Technology, SUNY Binghamton, and New York University. The list of majors was equally impressive, which included AI Development and Technology, Chemical Engineering, Biology and Chemistry, Sports Management, Video Game Design, Animation and Illustration, Music Production, Nursing, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Business, and Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Foy paid special thanks to the GCSD parent community for their commitment and partnership. “If you want to send your child to a State University, HBCU, Ivy League, or Tier One Private school, send them to Woodlands Middle High School,” he said. “If we work together, collaborate, and join in a partnership, your child will be successful too. That’s why we’re here today, to show proof. There’s an expression, ‘I can show you better than I can tell you,’ and so today you will see the wonderful things that are happening in the Greenburgh Central School District.”
