REQUESTING NEW SOFTWARE:
Greenburgh Central School District's Approval Process
As part of our commitment to data privacy, instructional quality, and responsible budgeting, this is the process for requesting new software or digital platforms for use in the Greenburgh Central School District.
Sometimes requests involve tools that are either new to the district or have been used informally—perhaps on a free trial or paid for out-of-pocket. This is a great opportunity to remind everyone of the district’s required vetting process before any software can be used with students.
One of the key impacts of EdLaw 2-d is that we can no longer pilot software first and seek approval afterward, even if you're funding it yourself. All software pilots must receive prior district approval before being used with students.
How to Request Software:
- Complete the Request Form
Visit: Greenburgh Central School District website → Departments → Technology → Data Privacy and Security → Software Request - Review Process
- Phase 1: The Director of Technology will review the request to confirm compliance.
- Phase 2: If the software complies with NYS laws, it will move to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, Programs, & Personnel for approval.
- Phase 3: Requests will then go to the Assistant Superintendent for Business for the final phase, where budget alignment will be assessed.
Currently Approved Software:
- Any software listed in Classlink is approved for use.
- A full list of district-approved software is available at: Greenburgh Central School District website → Departments → Technology → Data Privacy and Security → District Approved Software.
If you’ve been using a resource or platform that’s not listed in Classlink, please check it against the District Approved Software List. If it’s not there, you must complete the software request form to begin the vetting process as soon as possible.
If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you.
