What a sight and a sound to see the entire cafetorium stage filled with Lee F. Jackson first graders, singing, signing, moving, and making music with confidence and joy. From the first note to the final beat, students brought energy, expression, and heart to a Winter IB Sharing Assembly that celebrated learning through the arts.
Principal Ms. Simone welcomed families and friends, setting the tone for a celebration grounded in community and shared growth. Under the guidance of Music Teacher Ms. Lutz, every first grade class took part, working together toward a shared performance that reflected teamwork, focus, and pride.
Students opened with One Small Voice, performed in sign language. With focused expressions and carefully practiced movements, the young performers showed how communication can take many forms and how every voice matters.
The tone shifted to warmth and enthusiasm during Gratitude Attitude, as students sang about the people and places they appreciate most. Celebrating family, friends, teachers, and school, their voices rang out with sincerity and joy.
In Lend a Helping Hand, students confidently shared a message about kindness and supporting others, reinforcing the importance of empathy and caring within their school community.
Color and motion filled the stage during Sobonana Kusasa. Using bright music scarves, students moved rhythmically and expressively, bringing the song’s meaning goodbye for now we will see each other soon to life through movement and music.
Winter magic followed with The Little Snowflake, as students twirled and swayed, imagining snowflakes flying, dancing, and singing through the air. The playful movement and storytelling highlighted their growing confidence as performers.
The excitement continued with Winter Fun, a lively celebration of snowy days and seasonal play, before the assembly concluded with Play That Music All Day Long. With drums and rhythm sticks in hand, students kept the beat, showing focus, teamwork, and a shared love of music.
Reflecting on the performance, Ms. Lutz shared, “The students worked really hard leading up to this concert. It was wonderful to see them all together on the stage and taking pride in their work.”
