Highview’s World Cup Brings Students Together for Fun in the Sun

Highview Elementary School students celebrated the end of the school year with one of the community’s most anticipated traditions, Fun in the Sun.

This year’s PTA-organized event embraced a “Highview’s World Cup” theme, with students proudly representing teams such as Outstanding Orange, Great Green, Wonderful White, Brilliant Blue, Yay for Yellow, Radiant Red, and Gorgeous Gray. Throughout the day, students participated in activities that celebrated teamwork, creativity, movement, and fun, including sports and games on Webb Field, music and movement with Dream Dance, hands-on experiences in the iCamp/Innovation Lab, arts and crafts, visits with the Greenburgh Police Department and Hartsdale Fire Department, and a refreshing treat from Rita’s Italian Ice.

Fun in the Sun is made possible by the Highview PTA, parent volunteers, school staff, community partners, and student volunteers from Woodlands High School’s Key Club. Their collective support helps create a celebration of a year of learning, connection, and school spirit.

For many Woodlands Key Club members, the event is a favorite annual tradition and an opportunity to give back to younger students while helping create memorable experiences. The day also reflects the strong partnership between families, schools, and the broader Greenburgh community.

As students moved from activity to activity, one thing was evident: Fun in the Sun is about more than games and activities. It is a celebration of the people who come together each year to help Highview shine, inside and out.
