On this day in 1683, the first German immigrants arrived in Philadelphia.
Did you know? "Der Kindergarten" is German for "children's garden," and the first kindergarten in the United States was opened by a German immigrant in Wisconsin in 1856.
Today we celebrate the culture, creativity, and contributions of German Americans who've shaped our nation's story, from our classrooms to our communities. Their spirit of innovation continues to inspire our Greenburgh community.
