October 23, 2026
Dear Greenburgh Central School District families,
As a result of the recent Town water main break, the Westchester County Department of Health has issued a Boil Water Advisory for our area, which will remain in effect at least through Monday, October 26, 2026 and until further notice as a precautionary measure.
In our buildings, we are boiling all water used in food preparation or cooking. Despite our filtered drinking water having tested safe this morning, we have made the decision to turn off all water fountains in our schools, out of an abundance of caution. While we will have cases of water available to students, we also encourage students to bring bottled water to school until the advisory is lifted.
A Boil Water Advisory means that those in the affected area are strongly advised to boil all tap water at a rolling boil for a minimum of one minute prior to drinking it or using it to prepare food, wash dishes by hand or brush teeth. The advisory does not extend to bathing, washing clothes or using a dishwasher.
I continue to work to establish relationships with the Town of Greenburgh and other local agencies to facilitate faster notification to the Superintendent’s office of community issues that impact the district.
I’ve heard from families today, and I hear your frustration about the timing of this morning’s notification. I share in your frustration and will work with the Board to improve communication with the Town so that we are better informed of future incidents in a timely manner.
In partnership and purpose,
Dr. Lorenda D. Chisolm
Superintendent of Schools

Dra. Lorenda Chisolm
Superintendente de Escuelas
