GOOGLE FOR EDUCATION

The Greenburgh Central School District utilizes Google Workspace for Education, Chromebooks, and other Chrome devices throughout the district. Chromebooks give students, teachers, and administrators a simple solution for fast, intuitive, and easy-to-manage computing. Chromebooks provide access to the web's education and collaboration resources, as well as offer centralized management and low total cost of ownership.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

1. Why can't my child forward emails to me on my personal account? Student emails are restricted for internal use only to ensure privacy and security.

2. Will a parent be able to log into ClassLink while the student is logged on?
Yes, you can access ClassLink as long as you are logging in with your child's credentials.

3. Can Google Classroom work on Chrome browsers on PCs or iPads?
Yes, Google Classroom is cloud-based and can be accessed from any device with an internet connection, including PCs, Macs, iPads, and smartphones.

4. How can we add extensions for Grid View, Raising Hands, or Push-to-Talk in Google Meet?
You no longer need extensions for these! Google has now built these features directly into Google Meet. Students can use the native "Raise Hand" icon, see up to 49 participants using the built-in grid layout, and use the spacebar to temporarily unmute themselves. Any other required district extensions are pushed automatically to district-managed Chromebooks.

5. Is there a way to scroll across tiles when there are too many to view on one screen?
Yes. When there are more participants than can fit on the screen, a button or arrow will appear at the bottom or side of the grid, allowing you to page through and view the rest of the class.

6. Sometimes my child submits assignments, and they show as missing, but we cannot submit them again unless we get permission from the teacher. What can we do? In situations where a network error occurs during submission, the best approach is to message the teacher directly, explain that the assignment was completed and handed in, and ask for permission to re-submit it.
