Yesterday, the Greenburgh Central School District Board of Education announced that it has selected Dr. Lorenda Chisolm as the District’s new superintendent. The Board expects to approve Dr. Chisolm’s contract at a special meeting on March 20, 2025. Following this announcement, the Board received requests to live-stream the upcoming special meeting. Additionally, the Board received a few inquiries seeking more details about the hiring process and information about Dr. Chisolm.
Live-stream
Special meetings of the Board are typically not live-streamed. However, understanding the crucial role that trust plays in the partnership between the District, parents and community members, the Board recognizes the importance of modifying this practice for such a significant event. As such, the meeting will be live-streamed on the District’s YouTube channel.
Search Process
The superintendent search process was comprehensive and included multiple stages, such as gathering community input through an online survey and engaging stakeholders through in-person focus groups. The timeline can be found on our District website on a left side tab titled “Superintendent Search.” The process officially began in September 2024 and concluded in March 2025. The Board recognizes that each superintendent search has taken various approaches to involve the community and that some members of the community expected to evaluate the final candidates. The Board considered this option and discussed it at great length. The Board chose to maintain a confidential process throughout, which is consistent with advice from the search firm and current hiring practices at this level while protecting candidates who are exploring professional options.
Candidate Information
With 20 years of experience, Dr. Lorenda Chisolm brings comprehensive knowledge to the Greenburgh Central School District. She is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning at Schenectady City School District and has served as Director of School Review in the Office of Shared Accountability in Buffalo.
A press release with more information on Dr. Chisolm will be released after appointment.
Thank you for your partnership and continued support of the Greenburgh CSD.
Update: 3/14/25
The Greenburgh Central School District Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. to appoint Dr. Lorenda Chisolm as the new Superintendent of Schools effective July 1, 2025. Bailey School library and will not be live-streamed or recorded. If you are unable to attend, Dr. Chisolm will host a series of community ‘meet and greet’ events after July 1, 2025.

Throughout December and January, the Board conducted multiple rounds of interviews with potential candidates.
During each interview, the Board carefully reviewed stakeholder feedback for consideration and reference.
In February, the Board will make its final decision and begin the contractual process.
Update: 11/14/24
As part of our search process, we hosted representatives from McPherson & Jacobsen at the District for the day. They met with selected stakeholders who answered the survey questions and further elaborated on our District’s needs.
The description for the position of Superintendent of Schools within our District is focused and clear. Now, the firm has a more in-depth understanding of who we are as a public school community and can make recommendations for the very best match.
The Greenburgh Central School District Board of Education would like to thank our students, staff, parents and community members for taking the time out of their day to meet with the search firm and give such valuable feedback. While the Board will make the final decision, we cannot complete this process without all of you.
