Global Learning and Academic Excellence
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme K–12: GCSD’s IB Programme challenges students to think critically, engage deeply with complex concepts, and become reflective, globally minded learners. Instruction encourages inquiry, interdisciplinary connections, and the development of lifelong learning skills.
- English as a New Language (ENL): K–12 support is provided for Multilingual Learners through inclusive, content-rich instruction. Teachers collaborate across subjects to help students acquire academic English while mastering grade-level content. The program honors students’ cultural and linguistic backgrounds while promoting both language growth and social-emotional development.
- World Languages: Students learn Mandarin Chinese and Spanish from early grades through high school, building fluency, communication skills, and cultural awareness. Language instruction is integrated with the IB Programme, preparing students for college and careers in a multilingual, multicultural world.
Greenburgh Central School District has been recognized by the New York State Education Department through the New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) program. This designation reflects the district’s commitment to multilingualism and the academic achievement of students who demonstrate proficiency in two or more languages.
For the 2025–26 school year, GCSD has been recognized as a NYSSB School and NYSSB Seal Coordinator. In 2024–25, the district earned 2nd–4th Year Silver recognition, as well as distinction for students attaining proficiency in 2 world languages in addition to English. These recognitions highlight the strength of our World Languages and ENL programs and reinforce our focus on preparing students for success in a global society.
